Saint-Ay to Chaumont-sur-Loire

Our stroll down the Loire continued, with the river becoming wider, shallower and lazier each day. Past the old fortified towns of Meung-sur-Loire and Beaugency, so important in the Hundred Years’ War, and past another nuclear power station, we entered the most famous stretch of the Loire, where royal châteaux line the river every few miles.
