This stretch of the Vienne gave us no problems. The land got even flatter, the river more easy-going, and the villages were nicely spaced. We were able to stop at a bar for coffee half-way through each morning and there were pleasant camping grounds where we needed them.
The weather was cool but delightful until we were almost at Châtellerault, when it began to rain in earnest and we spent a dreary Sunday afternoon huddled in our tent on the outskirts of the town. We should have gone into the centre and stayed in a hotel.
