The description that follows is of our walk in 2010, when we went upstream (south) from Cosne-sur-Loire as far as Fourchambault, using a mixture of towpaths, levee banks and minor roads.
Most of these three days were spent close to the river, on towpaths, levee banks and minor roads. The weather was sunny and promising, but unfortunately that promise was not to be fulfilled in later days.
Day 4: Cosne-sur-Loire to Saint-Satur
Day 5: Saint-Satur to la Charité-sur-Loire
Day 6: La Charité-sur-Loire to Fourchambault
