Not surprisingly, walking is a rather cheap way to get around. The average daily cost for the two of us in 2012 was €69, made up of the following approximate amounts:
Dinner €35
Coffee €10
Accommodation €17
Other expenses €7
In other words, we put our money where our mouth is!
The accommodation cost was a mixture of:
Camping €9/night
Hotels/gîtes €44/night
There really is nothing else to spend money on, unless you want to increase your burden.
In addition, return air fares from Australia were AUS$1,500 each, and all train fares within France came to €95 each.
