Eight easy days of walking in the old province of Quercy, centred on the modern department of the Lot.
We began by following the Dordogne upstream from Souillac and making a circuit to the north to visit some of the most beautiful villages of the area, then crossed the river and the causse to the legendary pilgrimage site of Rocamadour.
Except for the section from Souillac to Carennac, it was not the first time that we had done this walk. Two years earlier we had gone in the opposite direction round the same loop.
Getting to Souillac
Souillac has a railway station. You can get there from almost anywhere in France.
