Tonnerre to Auxerre

There was a little discontinuity after Avallon. For various reasons, including shortage of time, we went by train and bus from there to Tonnerre, on the Canal de Bourgogne.

We did this so that we could complete our walk along the canal, all the rest of which we had done in previous years. It only required two more days of canal walking to reach the end, where it empties into the Yonne river, but we had a day’s rest in the middle because of a rainy morning.

The last day was a simple walk up the river to the familiar and beloved town of Auxerre, from where we took the train to Paris the next morning.
