Bénévent-l’Abbaye to Flavignac

From the high point of Bénévent-l’Abbaye, we descended to the valley, then climbed again over the forested mountains of Ambazac, remote and thinly populated. Crossing the river Taurion, we pressed on southwards to the great pilgrim site of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, and from there we followed the river Vienne down, past Limoges to Aixe-sur-Vienne. We then turned south again to Flavignac.

The weather improved noticeably in this section and we dared to think that summer had really arrived, but after we left Limoges the rain returned and we were happy to find a gîte to stay in at Flavignac.
