Sault to Cavaillon

In three very hot days we left the Baronnies and crossed into the valley of the river Cavalon (also known as the Coulon), then followed it to the end of the mountains of the Luberon, where it joined the Durance river at Cavaillon.

The countryside varied between the pale, dry, rocky uplands and the rich farms of the valleys. All of it was beautiful, and there were many points of historical and cultural interest, but everything we did was dominated by the fearsome heat.
